Ice Blaster Weekend
With frequent low-cost flights to Geneva from many UK airports, getting to Switzerland for an adventurous weekend climbing break has never been easier. The weekend gives 2 full days of climbing, so you can enjoy an exhilarating and satisfying ice-climbing trip without using up any holiday time.

Ice Blaster weekends can also extend any of our 5-day ice climbing courses, so they can offer a challenging extension to our Ice Climbing Skills course for example, or perhaps a warm-up (with a chance for a bit more technical instruction) before our Technical Alpine Icefalls week.
The courses convene at the Grand Chalet hotel in Leysin, and normally our first day will be climbing at one of several good icefalls in the Leysin area. For the following day an early start can get us to a fantastic choice of venues including the Val d'Herens, the Val de Bagnes, Trient and the Chamonix valley. We choose the most suitable venue according to your climbing standard/experience and of course where conditions are best.
Having the flexibility to choose between these areas (on either day) according to conditions is the key to guaranteeing a brilliant ice-climbing weekend. For people wanting a longer stay we take care to change locations for a really varied climbing holiday.
After climbing on the Sunday we take you back to a main line station (usually Aigle) in time to catch your flight back to the UK, or drive you back to the hotel in Leysin if you decide to stay longer (or will be joining us for a course the following week).
Return Flight
to UK
When arranging your flight home please note that it is normally possible to get to Geneva Airport by 7pm after the last day's activities. It is not usually possible to reach the airport before this time without cutting short the climbing day.
Who the course will suit.
We pitch the course at the right level for course participants, making up balanced climbing teams. Previous ice climbing experience is desirable but climbing grade is not important - we can cater for a range of standards and give each individual the instruction/guidance he or she requires.
Please note: as most people taking this course will arrive late on Friday evening, the meals provided begin with breakfast on the Saturday morning. If arriving earlier on the Friday you are welcome to purchase a meal at the Grand Chalet.
