INFORMATION SUMMARY

Getting to Leysin and the The Hiking Sheep

From Geneva Airport, a train journey around the shore of Lake Geneva brings you to the town of Aigle, where the train connects with a cog railway going straight up the mountainside to Leysin.

To reach The Hiking Sheep, disembark at the Grand Hotel Station (the highest and last station of the village). Turn left and walk 2 minutes gently downhill and the Hiking Sheep is at the bottom of the path. (Do have a look at the Hiking Sheep web site which shows a picture of the building so that you will recognize it when you see it).

THE STUDENT ALPINE WEEK BEGINS WITH A BRIEFING IN THE LOUNGE of the Hiking Sheep at 7.00pm ON THE COURSE STARTING DATE. If travel arrangements make it impossible for you to attend the briefing don't worry - essential information can be relayed to you later.

Train times can be looked up on the web at: www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm . A standard return fare Geneva Airport - Leysin is around £40. [From Zurich airport the journey to Leysin takes around 4 hours by train.]

If coming from the UK by car via the Auto routes, allow approximately 10 hrs from the Channel.
