Augusto Ortega Peruvian Mountain Guide

​A professional Mountain Guide from Peru, Augusto has climbed extensively in South America and beyond. He has made several first ascents in Peru and has led many expeditions throughout the Andes over the last 30 years. Augusto holds the record for summiting Aconcagua (65 times)!

In Ecuador he's summited Chimborazo 18 times and made 25 ascents of Cotopaxi, Cayambe, Tungurahua, Pichincha and Ruminahui. In Peru he has climbed Huascaran 38 times and led over 30 successful expeditions to Alpamayo. Augusto has also led trips in Bolivia, and Chile. He is the first Peruvian to successfully climb Mt. Everest twice (in 1992 with oxygen and in 1999 without). Augusto also climbed Cho Oyu (1998).
