Ice Climbing with ISM

Ice climbing is one of the most rewarding and unique forms of winter adventure, combining movement, technique and decision-making on a constantly changing mountain canvas. From your first steps on frozen waterfalls to climbing some of the world’s most iconic icefalls, our courses are designed to help you develop your skills, confidence and experience in some of the finest winter climbing destinations on earth.

ISM Ice Climbing courses are led by professional guides who are passionate expert climbers, bringing a wealth of experience from the Alps, Canada and mountain ranges around the world. Our small teams, expert coaching and flexible approach allow us to choose the best climbing objectives for the conditions and the aspirations of the group.

The Alps offer some of the finest ice climbing in the world, with cold winter temperatures creating incredible frozen waterfalls and classic ice routes throughout January and February. Further west, the Canadian Rockies provide a truly unique ice climbing experience, with vast wilderness, legendary routes and longer daylight hours making the end of February and into March an exceptional time to explore this spectacular landscape.

Testimonials For ISM

The course was excellent, lots of variety and provided me with a good range of skills. Loved reaching the summit of the Weissmeis, for such a nervous and unconfident novice like me, I gained a real sense of achievement from the ascent and the whole week. Huge thanks to Pat.

Summits & Skills 4000m (Instructional Course)

Our three guides were all excellent: Thomas, Phil and Paulo. I can't speak highly enough of them. They were all good company and superb climbers, and patient with us all.

Matterhorn Ascent - A Classic Alpine Dream!

The classic alpinism course last week led by Swedish Daniel was excellent! The itinerary was really well planned taking into account the less than perfect weather and the abilities and aspirations of the group - we all learned loads.
