Accommodation
At ISM, we carefully select accommodation to support the overall experience of your course - balancing comfort in the valley with the authentic realities of being in the mountains.
Valley & Hotel Accommodation
Hotel accommodation is typically provided at the beginning and/or end of your course, as well as during certain valley-based nights.
- Rooms are based on two people sharing a twin room
- If you are travelling solo, you will be allocated a shared room with another ISM client on the same course
If you would prefer your own room:
- A single occupancy upgrade may be requested (subject to availability)
- This is charged at a supplement of €110 per night
- Single room upgrades are available for valley/hotel accommodation only
Mountain Hut Accommodation
On alpine courses, a number of nights are spent in traditional mountain huts.
- Accommodation is in shared dormitory-style bunk rooms
- You will typically share with other course participants and, at times, other mountaineers using the hut
- Dormitory sizes vary widely, ranging from 4-person rooms to larger dorms of 20+ depending on the hut
Please note:
- There are no single room or upgrade options in mountain huts
- Facilities are communal, reflecting the nature of high mountain environments
Expedition Accommodation (Camping)
For mountaineering expeditions, accommodation may also include camping:
- At base camp, single occupancy tents may be available on request
- At advanced base camp and higher camps, clients are generally expected to share a two-person tent
This reflects the practical realities of expedition mountaineering, where travelling light and efficiently at altitude is essential.
Questions & Upgrades
If you have any questions or specific requirements regarding accommodation, or if you would like to request a single room upgrade for hotel stays, please contact the ISM office.
We are happy to discuss options and help you find the best arrangement for your course.
