Norway Icefalls - information

Trip leader
The trip will be led by ISM member guide Adrian Nelhams, an
ice-climbing devotee with many years experience worldwide.
Adrian is great company both on and off the ice - his boundless
energy and enthusiasm will guarantee a brilliant trip for all.
Accommodation
We stay in self-catering accommodation throughout
the trip, cooking for ourselves at breakfast time and again
in the evening (unless people choose to eat out at a restaurant,
at their own expense). We take packed lunches with us each
day when climbing. We plan to
spend the first part of the week in Hemsedal and then head
through to
Fagernes
for
the
remainder
of our
trip.
What the all-inclusive price covers
The cost of the trip covers transport by car from Oslo airport
to our initial base in Hemsedal, all transport
needs
to and from the icefalls each day, and return transport
to Oslo airport a week later. It also covers 5 days instruction
and guiding
on
a low ratio of 1 guide to 2 clients. Accommodation costs
in Norway are included, as well as use of all group equipment
and all your food.
Not included are alcoholic drinks or any
meals you decide to take at local restaurants.
Equipment
There is no ISM gear store in the area and buying or hiring
gear there can be difficult, so please bring all your personal
kit for winter ice-climbing (see Equipment
page). You need
to be prepared for the greater demands of winter in Norway
so
please
study the equipment page carefully.
It is vital to take a down jacket and good warm gloves.
Meeting Point
Adrian will meet you on your arrival into Oslo airport,
so please liase with the office on your flight times, as he
will try to arrange similar flights.
